THE VINCENT JOURNAL....
Monday: Introducing Chesagrove’s Starry Knight at SandyOak, aka Vincent or Vince, born June 17, 2012. His dad is Ch. Gunrock Raider at Chesagrove sired by my Rusty, aka Am* & BIS/BBE Int.* Ch. Sandy Oak’s Rainbow Rider UD JH NA NAJ WD ROMQ, and is out of Ch. Sandy Oak Duck Duck Goose JH WDX. Vincent’s mama is Chesagrove’s Lady Baltimore sired by Chesagrove’s Titanium Taurus and out of Chesagrove’s Madison By The Bay, from Shirl Fischer’s Kennel in Florida. This puppy is pure Sandy Oak breeding on his sire’s side and not only goes back directly to Rusty, but his grandmother is a Star granddaughter. Vincent was sent to me via Delta air cargo and I picked up him at San Francisco International this last Monday morning! He came out of the air cargo building screaming at the top of his lungs....must have screamed a lot on the trip as he was pretty hoarse! He’s an adorable puppy....very friendly, willing to go out to do a duty on the leash and came back to my office for the rest of the afternoon! A little crying, but all in all was pretty good. Got some pics of him at the office which I will try to post here as well.
Tuesday: He slept the night with a few whimpers but otherwise seems to be adjusting quickly. Upon my return home from work, we made 2 trips up and down my driveway on leash....he did really good for 2 months old. When I put Vincent in his run that morning, I gave him some kongs one of which was stuffed with a few broken biscuit parts and capped with a tablespoon of peanut butter. He managed to dislodge the peanut butter, but hasn't been inclined to eat it or get the biscuits out. So this morning I gave him a nylabone....he loved it...so raided the toy box in the house for a big knotted nylabone and a big drumstick nylabone, and tossed those in his run. He was beside himself. I'm finding that when he's excited or distressed, he mutters.....he couldn't decide which nylabone he wanted and kept going from one to the other muttering! He is so cute! By the time I got back to my bedroom to get dressed for work I could hear a nylabone clunking on the kennel deck in his run, so he must have made his decision! Last night we walked up and down the driveway again a couple of times, did a couple of short retrieves, and investigated more places. He is so happy to go.....a really happy little fellow! Soon we will try to get up his own web page and pics!
