SPRING FLOWERS IN IDAHO How does the saying go

How does the saying go.....April showers bring May flowers! In this instance, it was April flowers bring May showers.....at least in Idaho where they need it! And so, after receiving confirmation app 5:30 p.m. on Saturday from Dave at RotoRooter that my failed septic system would be fixed without me, on the last Sunday morning of May, Scottie, Molly, Robbie and I, along with my freshly cleaned and oiled (only with olive oil) saddle and other gear, headed off for a week at cousin Jan’s So What & Chesany Kennel Ranch in New Plymouth, Idaho, with plans of dog training, ground working my new unbroke horse, riding – yes, on already broke horses -- and just kicking back. We managed all of it despite the rain and thunder storms that rumbled through for the first 4 days, and we had a wonderful time! We were only able to go horseback riding one afternoon though Sad! And the septic system got fixed but not as easily as it sounded. Thank you Marcie for your help as well! Read More...

What a Weekend at the Golden Gate Kennel Club Show

The ACC Supported Golden Gate Kennel Club shows

January 26 & 27
th welcomed The American Chesapeake Club supported annual benched Golden Gate Kennel Club shows for us. My cousin Jan Holshevnikoff of Chesany Chesapeakes came down from Idaho with two of her Chesapeakes and stayed with us for a few days! And what a terrific time we had!!!

On Thursday, Jan met her half brother and sister-in-law for the first time and we all had a wonderful evening at my place getting acquainted, then Jeff and Lisa spent most of Saturday at the show with us. To quote my friend “What I really enjoyed was watching Jan getting to know her new brother and visa versa. They were both so thrilled it gave me a warm feeling just taking in their joy. Her brother and his wife are very nice people and I'm glad they found each other.” Jan was adopted and only recently had her birth records unsealed so she could find her family!! This as been quite an exciting ride for both of us as I am Jan’s ‘adopted’ cousin on my side of the family and Jan has kept me in the loop!! I actually met Jeff and Lisa in December at a local Christmas Fair and got to report back to Jan.

Out with a bang.. goodbye 2011!! Hello 2012!

Well, here we are again, the year is almost over, and Christmas will be here before we know it. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving....I know we did!

It's been a great year for us here at Sandy Oak...Lacey and Ben had another litter of 10 beautiful pups....the photos and videos are still on the website. We encourage anyone with pups from this litter to send their photos in to me and we will post them on a special page on the website for this litter. I kept a lovely bitch pup from the litter who we are calling Molly, registered name is Sandy Oak's Earth Wind & Fire. Annie, aka GrCh. Sandy Oak's Wish Upon A Star RN CGC finished her Grand Championship last month handled by both Catherine Collins, her co-owner, and myself. Also, to anyone who has not yet sent in your pup's AKC registration application to AKC, pleeease do so as there are benefits from AKC available to all who have registered pups including their Companion Animal Recovery program should your pup be lost. On Saturday, Greg and Luann Nealon's good looking Sandy Oak's Oh Henry! was Winners dog for another point towards his conformation championship, and our Ch. Sandy Oak Wish Upon A Star RN CGC ("Annie") went Best of Opposite Sex for 1 point towards her Grand Championship. Both dogs were handled beautifully by our own Catherine Collins. On Sunday Catherine finished Annie's Grand Championship with another Best of Opposite Sex win and the last needed point for the title. Henry didn't come back to show on Sunday because there were no points to be had in class dogs. Read More...
